Two of the six things we make are for the car. They solve different problems, and choosing between them is mostly a question of how big your dog is and where they sit.
The Haven covers the bench
The Haven is a hammock. Laid flat it is 137 by 147 cm; installed, it covers the whole rear bench, with panels rising on all four sides so the gap down to the footwell is closed. The dog stays on the seat rather than sliding off it on the first corner.
A nylon mesh divider runs down the center, splitting the bench in two. Two dogs travel without leaning on each other, and the mesh sees through, so nobody is shut in.
It suits dogs who lie down in the car — medium and large breeds who want to stretch out, and any dog who would otherwise leave fur and paw prints on the upholstery.
The Perch lifts a small dog up
The Perch is a booster: 47 cm wide, 50 cm deep, 35 cm high, with padded walls on three sides and a low open front. It raises a small dog to window height so they can see out instead of scrambling for a view.
It is built for dogs up to 8 kg. Larger dogs do not fit — not uncomfortably, but at all. If your dog is above that weight, the Haven is the one.
Which one
Under 8 kg, and they like to watch the road: the Perch. Over that, or two dogs, or a dog who lies down for the journey: the Haven.
A word on safety
Neither is a crash-tested restraint. Both keep a dog settled and keep the seats clean, and that is what they are for. For travel safety, pair either one with a certified harness or carrier.
